

Chamber Awards
The Pioneer Award was established in 1986 as
the Chamber’s highest form of recognition.
The Hero Award was established in 2002 by the
GPCC to recognize a local citizen or organization and to
honor and remember those public servants and citizens
who died in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Pioneer
Award Guidelines
The following procedures are to be used as
guidelines.
- The Chamber President shall appoint committee of
3 by January 1st.
- The Executive director and board members shall
solicit nominations from all chamber members by
email, meeting announcements, newsletter and word of
mouth. The nomination form shall be included in the
email, newsletter and at all meetings.
- The nominations can be an individual or an
organization. One award in each category may be
given, if warranted.
- The nomination forms shall be forwarded to the
committee chair; the chair shall be elected within
the committee.
- Nominations will close 3 weeks prior to annual
meeting.
- Committee will make the decision of an inductee
or not by 2 weeks prior to annual meeting, thus
giving time for the presenter to prepare
presentation. The presenter may be the nominator, a
committee member or other appointee.
- Committee chair will verify appropriate plaques,
etc have been ordered.
- Presentation will be at the Chambers annual
meeting.
Pioneer Award Qualifications
- To have served the Palmer Chamber of Commerce
and Palmer community with distinction.
- Long term commitment should be a high
consideration.

Guidelines
The following procedures are to used as guidelines:
- The Executive Director and board members shall
solicit nominations from all chamber members by
email, meeting announcements, newsletter and word of
mouth. The nomination form shall be included in the
email, at all meetings and the newsletter.
- Nomination period will begin July 1st and end
the third Wednesday in August.
- The Board of Directors will select a worthy
recipient from the nominations.
- The Executive Director will be sure the plaque
and $50 gift certificate are obtained.
- The award will be presented at the Community
forum meeting in September by the nominator, the
GPCC president or other appointee.
Hero Award Qualifications:
- The person or group shall exemplify outstanding
public service to the Greater Palmer area.
- Promote public safety efforts.
- Which may include that she or he has put him or
herself at risk to save the life of another.
