Special Event Involvement

The GPCC will be involved with various events throughout the year either by complete sponsorship or by support. The following events are annual commitments - Member involvement is key, please contact the Executive Director to volunteer.

AUCTION

• Largest fundraiser for the Chamber
• Held in early October
• Silent and outcry auction
• 50/50 ticket sales
• Committee chairperson oversees auction with the assistance of committee and Executive Director

CLEAN UP DAY

• Sponsored by City of Palmer
• Responsible for cleanup of Arctic Avenue from Glenn Highway up to and including the Matanuska Bridge (Chamber is responsible to do this section of the road 3 times a year)
• Support the City of Palmer in their efforts

COLONY DAYS

• Sponsored by the Chamber
• Held 2nd Saturday in June
• Parade, Kids games, Run, various activities
• Special Events committee organizes with the assistance of the Executive Director as instructed

COLONY CHRISTMAS

• Sponsored by the Chamber
• Held 2nd Saturday in December
• Parade, outdoor activities, craft bazaars, Triathlon, Lighting contest, tree lighting, various activities
• Special Events committee organizes with the assistance of the Executive Director as instructed

FRIDAY FLINGS

• Sponsored by the Chamber
• Held each Friday during the summer
• Farmer’s Market, entertainment, vendors
• Friday Fling committee organizes and administers

PALMER PRIDE

• Sponsored by the City of Palmer
• Held 3rd Friday in July
• Support the City of Palmer in their efforts

STATE FAIR PARADE

• Sponsored by the Chamber
• Held 1st Saturday of the Alaska State Fair
• Special Events committee organizes with the assistance of the Executive Director as instructed
